Hence the part-of-speech category adverb, though serving the same purpose as the others, nevertheless differs from these. e. it is not as firmly established in the minds of, say, language students, as the other part-ofspeech categories. This is evident from the fact that beyond the core of the category there is often uncertainty concerning the identification of adverbs, which may differ from language student to language student depending on which sources listing or discussing adverbs they have had access to.
